The project commemorates the lost histories of the many individuals who passed through America's Poor Farm system.

Poor Farms were county-run institutions prior to national social security legislation tasked with providing for local indigent populations. Their mission and operation seems to range from from benevolent to punitive.

The piece is installed on the grounds of the historic Waupaca County Poor Farm. The project set out to offer specific details, via a sculpture in the form of a historical marker, regarding this particular Poor Farm, but extensive research of government records, local archives, and publications, returned no extant information.

Texts by Polly Morris and Robert J. Baumann were published in conjunction with the unveiling ceremony.

Poor Farm was the focus of a discussion of Druecke’s work in Wiley Blackwell’s A Companion to Public Art. Co-authored by Amanda Douberley and Paul Druecke.
